Frequently Asked Questions

What can I expect when I come to serve?

Every volunteer plays an important role in the ministry of Operation Christmas Child, ensuring the integrity and successful delivery of the gift boxes. At the Samaritan’s Purse Packing Party event, volunteers form teams responsible for packing gift boxes, taping them shut, transferring them into designated cartons and restocking gift items which are to be packed into the boxes.

Can any age volunteer?

Volunteers must be at least 13 years old to volunteer. Underage volunteers are advised to attend with a chaperone who can ensure they follow all safety guidelines. In any case where underage volunteers or their chaperones do not act in accordance with the safety guidelines, Samaritan’s Purse staff reserve the right to ask any individual to leave the warehouse at any time.

How can someone under 13 participate in Operation Christmas Child?

Packing an OCC gift box or hosting an OCC gift box Packing Party with their friends is an excellent way to be involved in Operation Christmas Child.

What should I wear at the volunteer venue?

The volunteer venue is in a large active setting, so we recommend wearing comfortable clothes. This would include comfortable shoes as you should be prepared to stand on your feet for the majority of the time.
